Is this an externally validated course?
Yes. In exactly the same way as your foundation level course was validated - for instance through the GHR or NCH - this course has been externally validated both by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Counsil (GHSC) and ACCPH.
Do I have to be a GHR member to take this course.
No. You can be a member of the GHR, NCH or similar level professional hypnotherapy body. However, if you wish to achieve GHSC recognition, you should either be a member of the GHR or should apply to join the GHR in addition to your other membership once you have completed the training. The course is also externally validated by the ACCPH as CPD without any additional membership requirements.
How much experience do I need before taking the course?
This is advanced course, which means that although you can start at any point in your hypnotherapy career, in order to graduate you should have two years experience or more. In practice, you could start studying immediately after your practitioner training, as you have up to 3 years to complete your advanced portfolio. You could not apply for recognised advanced practitioner status until you also had two years experience working as a hypnotherapist.
How long do I have to complete the course?
This is an advanced level course and to ensure you fully embrace the learning, you have up to 3 years to produce your advanced portfolio. Many students complete over the course of a few months, but the timeline is there so that you can engage deeply with the subject and the coursework.
Is the advanced hypnosis course self-paced or live?
Whilst most advanced level courses are completely self-paced, this course is supported by live workshops, once a month, exclusively available to advanced hypnotherapy students. During the workshops, we cover a course topic, which is linked to a portfolio outcome, and it also provides the chance to ask any questions you might have in addition to allowing you to network with fellow students.
Are there hypnotherapy exams?
Marked assignments are an essential part of the advanced training in order to ensure you meet the externally validated professional requirements. There is an open-book exam, you will be asked to create a personal development plan in order to progress your learning and practice, and you will also be asked to write about your personal reflections as you grow as a therapist. You'll be provided with complex client vignettes and be encouraged to think about how to apply new skills and ethical perspectives. You'll also learn how to move beyond using scripts in your practice.
What support is provided throughout the training?
There are three primary sources of support. The first is live advanced hypnotherapy workshops, during which we cover a course topic and you'll have the chance to ask questions. If you can't make a workshop you'll be able to watch the recording back in your own time. The second is a dedicated Facebook group for advanced students and graduates. Finally, Dr. Claire Jack is also happy to answer questions by email if you need support whilst producing your portfolio and if you need live 1-2-1 support from Claire this is available for an additional fee.
How much is the course and how do I register?
The full course fee is £595, or £599.88 if paid in instalments. You can register at any time and start studying at your own pace. When you are registered as an advanced hypnotherapy student, you'll receive links each month to our live workshops. You can either pay in full (which also has the option of 3 monthly payments if you choose Klarna) or you can spread the payments over 12 months for £49.99 a month. Please note, refunds are not avilable in full or part due to the live teaching element and support provided which means that places are limited.
