Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy FAQ
Choosing the right hypnotherapy course is an important decision and I'd be delighted to answer any questions you have. In the meantime, here are some answers to the most commonly asked question I receive.
Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy Questions and Answers
Can I make a good living as a hypnotherapist?
It's absolutely possible to make not only a good living, but a great living, as a hypnotherapist. It takes effort and it's advisable to choose a course that covers how to establish your hypnotherapy business and offers 1-2-1 support in doing so.
Is this an online zoom live training course availabe in the UK and internationally?
Yes. AIM offers hypnotherapy training courses to students throughout the UK and throughout the world. All diploma level courses are delivered via live zoom training. We're a nationally and internationally recognised hypnotherapy training provider. Live attendance is required to gain the HPD and meet the GHR's professional requirements.
Why is external accreditation important when you're studying hypnotherapy?
It's perfectly legal to call yourself a hypnotherapist after doing a weekend or online course for £20, or after reading a couple of books. An externally validated hypnotherapy qualification means that your course meets national requirements regarding course content and quality. If you want to make a living as a hypnotherapist, it's advisable to complete a course which is a Level 4 NFQ course and provides membership to the NCH, GHR or similar level of professional organisation.
Do clients look for accredited hypnotherapists?
Yes. A quick search on the internet advises clients to seek out fully accredited, fully insured hypotherapists who are registered with professional bodies such as the GHR and NCH. This is your client's guarantee of quality and without that guarantee, attracting clients is far harder.
Do I need any qualifcations to study hypnosis?
No. You'll receive everything you need to work confdiently and safely with your hypnotherapy clients without needing any training in advance. Some of our students are counsellors, psychologists or therapists working in other areas, but this isn't a requirement for training. All you need is an enthusasim for hypnotherapy and a willingness to learn.
How long is a clinical hypnotherapy diploma?
An accredited diploma level hypnosis course requires a total of 120 hours live teaching - either face-to-face or over zoom. You're then required to study on your own to a total of 450 hours. This might include reading hypnotherapy books, practicing with class-mates, watching hypnotherapy videos and completing assignments. It could also include keeping a reflective journal. Most hypnotherapy training schools cover the 120 hours over the course of a few months, which gives you time to practice in between and gain your confidence working with clients.
Can I earn an income whilst I learn hypnotherapy?
Yes. And this is a great way to gain skills and fund your training. You won't be able to work with everything until you are qualified, but you will be able to gain student insurance and offer hypnotherapy sessions that are more focused on relaxation and confidence building as opposed to the deeper therapeutic work you'll be doing once you're qualified.
Can I study hypnotherapy at degree level?
The Academy of the Inner Mind offers a Level 6 GHSC Accredited Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma. It has been assessed as a Level 6 course because it is equivalent to a hypnotherapy degree in the UK. In order to qualify for this course, once you have completed your initial Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, which is a Level 4 course, you can start studying your degree level course and you have 3 years to complete it.
How easy is it to attract hypnotherapy clients after qualifying?
The first step in attracting hypnotherapy clients is completing a respected, externally validated course that allows for registration with the GHR, NCH or similar level body. The next step is to have a business strategy and support as you grow your practice. AIM's Triple Diploma includes a business development course, 1-2-1 business support, and guidance on completing your business strategy as you progress through your hypnotherapy diploma training.
What kind of support is available during training?
Undertaking hypnotherapy training involves so much more than academic learning. You'll be digging deep at times and growing emotionally. Self-reflection is an inherent part of being a good hypnotherapist. You'll be supported throughout by Dr. Claire Jack and, if you need additional support, you'll have access to additional guidance from fully qualified hypnotherapists.
What's unique about this training course?
In terms of quality, AIM's courses stand out for their evidence-based, research-informed perspective and Dr. Claire Jack's commitment to bringing in a high level of academic standards in a way that's accessible and practical. The Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, combined with the 3 Part Practitioner Pathway encourages a unique skillset focused on establishing your business with essential marketing skills, and learning how to work with groups as well as 1-2-1 clients - both online and in-person. We'll explore how to create online self-help courses and create professional recordings, ensuring that you're completely up-to-date with current demands in therapy. We also cover how to work with neurodivergent clients using hypnosis - the only UK course to provide this as a module.
How can I learn more about neurodivergence and hypnosis?
The single biggest change in the therapy world in the last five years is the growth of clients seeking out specialist therapists, coaches and hypnotherapists who are experts in working with autistic, ADHD and other neurodivergent clients. Dr. Claire Jack has been a leading figure in the world of neurodivergent hypnotherapy and therapy for the last decade and the Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy covers how to work with neurodivergent clients and market your practice to this rapidly growing group. Upon qualification, you'll have access to the exclusive HypnoND® trademark and logo.
