In the Diploma in Analytical Hypnotherapy course we explore how to explain hypnotherapy to potential clients – and how to allay their fears. People continue to associate hypnotherapy with stage hypnosis and ‘mind control’. It’s not surprising that this myth continues – it’s constantly depicted in the movies and popular culture. Because of it’s slightly ‘weird’ reputation, your initial starting point with a client is often explaining what hypnotherapy is – that it is a completely natural state of mind, and is very empowering as it involves helping someone access and utilise THEIR powerful mind. The only ‘control’ involved is an increased sense of control on the part of the person who experiences hypnotherapy for themselves. Once a client realises this, there’s often no stopping them – and the benefits of what they have originally seen you about extend far into other areas of their life.
